CORONA: The Game Changer!

 Life Goes On.....
Life is going on slow,
And I’m going with the flow.
Can’t go out of the house,
Nor can I browse.
Sitting outside on a rainy day,
I understood that nature has it’s own way.
It’s trying to tell us to be humane,
In that there is no shame.
It’s beautiful sitting out here,
This is something we all can share.
This lovely music of nature,
Can transform a creature.
So lets go out there,
And get to know this great creation which is here.
Life is going on slow and I’m going with the flow.
This adorable creation,
Is what gives me inspiration.
Let’s enjoy what’s there in front of us,
Nature is what you can trust.
Just go & get wet in the rain,
Your dreams no one can drain.

Everything was going hunky-dory when suddenly I heard about the outbreak of Corona virus. Courtesy China! It was devastating. I couldn’t move out of the house, no outings, no school (well that wasn't bad), and the list goes on. It was like my freedom was taken by a Dictator- ‘Covid-19’, who had become an adversary to the people. Eventually I found that was wrong. This situation helped me to do a lot of things which were relegated in our lives due to lack of time. I believe it has given us an amazing opportunity to interact and come close to our loved ones again. I have been able to talk to my friends, relatives and cousins which I was not able to do so frequently. This eventually has led to spread of happiness among all of us. This situation has converted people to become generous and caring. This taught me that whatever happens, humanity is the thing which helps people to carry on. I have been able to take out some time for my hobbies also. I love writing poems and during this period of solace I have been expressing my thoughts on paper. Listening to music, which is also one of my hobbies, also got generous amount of time. I utilised this opportunity to practise and make vivid animation videos using ‘Scratch’, which I learnt a few years back. As I am in tenth standard and cannot skive off studies, this situation has given me enough time to learn new things. I understand that schools are closed but self-learning has become the call of the day. It’s hilarious, that phones were not allowed in schools and now the schools are inside the phones. As per me, it was the worst use of technology. This is a student’s dream come true. At times it was difficult to alienate myself at home but now it doesn’t seem to be toil. Now everyone is clued up about how to keep themselves safe. Books have really been our best friends at this time. Technology has played an important role in connecting people and in revival of laughter. It rarely happened that I entered the kitchen but now I have learnt how to bake delicious cakes and started watching some online programmes to try and master it. I also utilised this opportunity to water the plants and feed a lot of sassy squirrels. These days it’s like I have been living in a countrified place as I can hear the harmonious music of nature- the sound of birds chirping and the rain. I also saw a bird building a nest. It just perked me up. It was lovely interacting with mother nature. I also played a lot of games with my parents, which would not have been possible before the lockdown. I felt like I am reliving some moments of my childhood. In my point of view, this period is like a much-awaited long vacation, which has a set of rules, not to be broken at any cost. An inspirational vacation to be precise. It’s true that everything has its own merits and demerits. And I think I should not have judged this situation, which although was aggravating in the beginning but it also led to some amazing things which would not have been possible if we would have been going on with our fast and busy lives. The things which seemed to be big challenges, with just time, toil and concentration; became a great opportunity to learn and experience things.

Challenges are what make life interesting.

Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”
